TYPE OF SNORKELS

and Breathing Tubes
Caution
The total inner volume should be in relation to the size of the person using the snorkel.

Some manufacturers have adopted the rule that persons with a height of under 150 cm (approx. 5'-00") should use snorkels with an inner volume of less than 150 cubic cm. Taller persons can use snorkels with up to 230 cubic cm

Clearing the snorkel

When you dive underwater during skin diving with a snorkel in your mouth, or when you are washed by a wave during surface swims, or when the tip of the snorkel sinks below the water's surface, you will have to clear the water from the snorkel tube.

The most common method is to blow the remaining water through the snorkel in short, strong blasts when you are above the water surface or when you have just surfaced from below.

Even when the snorkel has been cleared, there is a possibility that some water remains in the snorkel. Therefore, breathe slowly and carefully. When water still remains in the snorkel, try blasting the water out again.
