Divemaster Evaluation Sheet PART 4; Waterskills and Stamina
Develop and Evaluate your overall water skills and stamina.
  • 400 yard swim
    Must swim 400 yards without stopping using no swimming aids and using any stroke or combination of strokes desired.
  • < 6 min = 5, < 8 min = 4, <10 min = 3, <12 min = 2, >12 min = 1
    Score:

  • 15 minute tread
    Using no aids and wearing only a swimsuit, will stay afloat by treading water, drown proofing, bobbing or floating for 15 minutes, with hands (not arms) out of the water during the last 2 minutes.
  • 5 = Performed satisfactorily
    3 = Stayed afloat, but hands not out of water entire 2 minutes
    1 = Used side/bottom for momentary support no more than twice
    Score:

  • 800 yard timed snorkel swim Using a mask, fins, snorkel and swimsuit only (no BCD or flotation aids) and swimming with the face in the water, must swim nonstop for 800 yards. May not use arms to swim.
    <13 min = 5, <15 min = 4, <17 min = 3, <19 min = 2, >19 min = 1
    Score:

  • 100 yard timed inert diver tow Wearing full scuba equipment, must push or tow an inert diver in full scuba at the surface 100 yards nonstop without assistance.
    <2 min = 5, <3 min = 4, <4 min = 3, <5 min = 2, >5 min = 1 Score:

Divemaster Evaluation Sheet PART 5; Practical Applications
A Mapping Project
By the end of the Mapping Project, the candidate will have surveyed with a buddy, a dive site or portion of a dive site assigned by the instructor, including underwater and surface features, with sufficient detail and accuracy for creating a map of the site.
The candidate will have created a map (team effort acceptable) of the dive site, showing (as applicable to the site) underwater relief, important points of interest, recommended entry/exit areas, local facilities, and potential hazards.
Pass or Fail:

An Underwater problem solving exercise
By the end of the equipment exchange, the candidate will demonstrate the ability to solve unanticipated problems underwater by exchanging all scuba equipment (except exposure suits and weights) with a buddy while buddy breathing.
5 Very low anxiety level. Performed task in a well-thought-out manner
4 Problems were encountered but were easily and efficiently handled
3 Completed exchange without surfacing. Numerous problems, or buddy did all the work
2 Significant problems. One member or both, surfaced once
1 Inability to complete. One or both members surfaced more than once.

Implementing a divemaster-conducted program
By the end or the PADI Divemaster, Conducted programs session, the candidate will be able to give an effective briefing and debriefing, and conduct activities for a PADI program that may be conducted entirely by a PADI Divemaster.
The candidate will demonstrate this by conducting a simulated or actual program, while under the direct supervision of a PADI Instructor, in a manner that shows a complete briefing, effective and safe inwater supervision, and an effective debriefing. Pass or Fail:

Diver Rescue Assessment and Development
The candidate must successfully execute an effective simulated rescue of an unresponsive, non-breathing diver at the surface By the end of the Rescue and Dive Accident Management exercise , the candidate will demonstrate the ability to manage a group of divers in effectively
1) responding to, locating and surfacing, transporting an egressing a nonbreathing diver 2) putting into action appropriate first aid, site control and summoning medical assistance for that diver.
To demonstrate this, during an accident simulation set up by the instructor, the candidate will participate in both phases, managing at least one of phase effectively and appropriately as determined against the evaluative criteria. Pass or Fail:
